  • On the first Friday of each month, Algoma’s art galleries, studios, as well as other stores open their doors for an evening of art exhibition opening receptions where you can often meet the artists, sales, refreshments, great conversation, and hands-on activities.Enjoy art of all mediums, start or add to an art collection, and enjoy refreshments and friendly conversation.

    Have a great time as you stroll the streets of downtown Algoma, WI.

    Hours may vary. Check back for specific times, specials, and activities. {Not all businesses are open for every First Friday.

    Letters to the Lake: Reflections and Action

    The Friends of Crescent Beach committee is partnering with Yardstick to observe Great Lakes Awareness Day (May 6) through letter writing.
    Join us for a letter-writing gathering that blends reflection with action. Whether you’re inspired to write a heartfelt note of gratitude, share a personal memory, or urge decision-makers to protect our waters, your voice matters. Together, we’ll honor the beauty and significance of the Great Lakes while calling for their continued protection. All supplies and sample letters provided.  We will provide a list of resources for those interested in getting better informed about Great Lakes issues.
    Great Lakes Awareness Day – May 6, 2025
    Observed annually on the first Monday of May, Great Lakes Awareness Day is dedicated to highlighting the ecological significance of the Great Lakes and the environmental challenges they face. In 2025, it falls on Monday, May 6. The day encourages education, conservation efforts, and community engagement to protect these vital freshwater resources.
