SHANTY DAYS “CELEBRATION OF THE LAKE” IS A THREE-DAY, FUN-FILLED FAMILY FESTIVAL THAT TAKES PLACE ON THE LAKE MICHIGAN SHORE IN ALGOMA, WISCONSIN. HUGE PARADE, CAR CRUISE, JURIED ARTS AND CRAFTS FAIR, FOOD, MUSIC, 5K, STREET FAIR, BEACH VOLLEYBALL, POOL TOURNAMENT, FISHING CONTEST, TEEN STAGE AND MORE! YOUR PERFECT SUMMER WEEKEND!
May 13, 2020:
It is with great disappointment that the Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors announces the cancellation of the 2020 edition of Shanty Days along with a couple of other summer events. Please read the complete media release here.
Please know that many factors needed to be addressed in making this decision including the uncertainly of COVID-19 along with contractual and financial logistics with entertainment groups as well as vendors. An event like Shanty Days takes place in large part due to sponsorships. Under the current business climate we could not in good conscience ask our businesses, many of whom have been closed or operating in a limited capacity, for money to put on this large event.
Different scenarios on how the event could still take place in a safe manner were taken into consideration.
We fully understand the disappointment as well as the impact this decision has on our community.
Algoma looks forward to celebrating with you August 13-15, 2021!
Thanks for your patience. Stay safe and healthy!
