In addition to the diverse selection of galleries, you can take the self-guided tour of the growing mural collection (17 and counting), most of which are outside. Whether you are a casual admirer or a serious art collector, Algoma, WI is the place to be for the ultimate arts experience.

First Friday: Art in Algoma

Every first Friday of the month, Algoma’s historic downtown businesses open their doors for an evening of art exhibitions ranging from nationally recognized contemporary ceramics to raku firings and local photography.  Sip local wine from Wisconsin’s oldest winery, as you visit each gallery and the variety of sidewalk pop ups that may include emerging artists, clothing retailers and food trucks.  After 8 p.m. it is common that artists, attendees, gallery owners and members of the Algoma community gather at local establishments for food, drink and conversation. Check out the Event Calendar.  for upcoming First Friday activities. 2023 First Friday events are in full swing with many other shops in town opening their doors for a full evening of small town experiences.

The Historic Walking Tour

The robust history of Algoma is still very evident today and can be seen just by taking a stroll through town.  Take the Historic Algoma Walking tour at your own pace and learn about the gorgeous Victorian-style homes to hotels then and now and everything in between.

Take in the beautiful Walldog murals seen on some of the buildings that capture the essence of yesteryear including Kodan Feed Store, Reinhart Bros Shoes and Ahnapee & Western Railroad, just to name a few.
