Ships will arrive between 10:00 and Noon

They will muster 1 mile off Crescent Beach

US Brig Niagara, Utopia (pending), Bluenose II, Pride of Baltimore, Appledore IV are scheduled to come.

1:00pm is the start of the Tall Ships Challenge® Race to Kenosha

2019 Schedule of Events

  • 10am HISTORY OF THE NAVAL SWING GUN
    Yardstick Books, 317 Steele Street. Learn the history of the naval swivel gun, its uses, and a demonstration on loading and firing. See replica costume from 1790s Revenue Marine. Presentation by Bob Desh.
  • 10am-1pm BEACH ACTIVITIES
    Crescent Beach Play beach games Hosted by the Friends of Crescent Beach. Join Massart Chiropractic at the Ducky Pool and Coloring Station to win prizes!  The Algoma Public Library will be hosting story time.  Blankets and books provided!
  • 11am-1pm TALL SHIPS LUNCH MARKET
    Algoma Youth Club Parking Lot, North of end of beach. Enjoy a pulled pork sandwich, hamburgers or brats served by local non-profits the Bruemmer Park Zoological Society and Algoma Long Term Care Unit. Dessert by The Dough Shoppe
  • 11am-1pm BABY DUCK AND CANNON DEMOS
    Crescent Beach. Take your picture with the baby ducks! Cannon demonstrations. If we are lucky, the ships will return fire!
  • 11am-1pm COASTIE THE COAST GUARD SAFETY BOAT
    Crescent Beach. Coastie is an animated robotic cartoon boat that teaches kids boat safety. He talks, plays music and interacts with kids! Teach your kids what to do in a water emergency situation.
  • 11am-1pm FREE KIDS PADDLE WITH EXPLORE ALGOMA
    Crescent Beach  Explore Algoma will offer a free, 15-minute kids paddle on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents will need to hold a tether and sign a liability waiver.  At 1 pm there will be a quick kayak safety demo for the kids.  Kayaks will be available to rent at Olson Park after event.
  • NOON TALL SHIPS MUSTER AT FULL SAIL 
    Join the US Brig Niagara, Utopia (pending), Bluenose II, Pride of Baltimore, and the Appledore IV as they muster a mile off Crescent Beach. At 1:00pm, the ships will take off for the Kenosha leg of the Tall Ships Challenge®
  • 1:30pm NAVAL & SAILING HISTORY OF ALGOMA
    Yardstick Books, 317 Steele Street. Local historian Virginia Feld Johnson shares tales of Ahnapee’s sailing heydays and its colorful sailors who contributed.

No tickets are necessary for the Algoma events. Schedule and ships are subject to change due to weather and sailing conditions. Ships will not be docking. Times are approximate with no guarantee when the ships will arrive. Many factors out of everyone’s control, including the weather and lake conditions will determine when the ships arrive.
