Our Volunteers Make the World Go ‘Round!
As Volunteer Appreciation Week 2021 comes to a close, the Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce would like everyone to know how much we value all the volunteers across the entire area who help our beautiful area thrive. From non-profits to school groups, their contributions help make us such a special and vibrant community.

Reilly and his human Kristin invite you to join the Algoma Visitor Center volunteer family!
In this great group of people are the volunteers who greet people from near and far in the Algoma Visitor Center. Whether they are giving directions to an area business or chatting about our million dollar view, these dedicated people willingly give of their time and cheery attitudes to be the face of Algoma.
Thank you to several area churches who were kind enough to place a note about volunteering in their bulletins and as a result, we have been blessed with several people who joined our wonderful “family of volunteers” here at the Algoma Visitor Center!!
Our winter hours are Monday and Friday, 10 am-4 pm and Saturday 10 am – 1 pm. Very soon we will be opening up for the summer season seven days a week and we look forward to welcoming visitors and locals alike. Most of us have had our Covid-19 vaccine and our summer shift volunteers are returning, but we still have available spots for new volunteers.
If you are 16 or older, have a little time to give, and are interested in joining our family, each shift is only 3 1/2 hours and you decide how often you come in – once a week, once a month, or just once in awhile. A cheery attitude and desire to share all the great things the Algoma area has to offer are the basic qualifications. We will teach you everything else you need to know.
If this sounds like something you would like to try, contact our Visitor Services and Volunteer Coordinator Sharon Hedrington at sharon@algomachamber.org or call 920.487.2041 and ask for Sharon or Ken. You can also stop by during our open hours.
