Meet the Chamber’s Board of Directors: Jason Melotte
We would like to help you get to know the Chamber’s Board of Directors a little better, so we’ve asked a few questions of them to help do just that.
Next up is Jason Melotte!
My name is Jason Melotte and I work for the Algoma School District as a representative on the board.
Tell everyone little about your company/organization and your position or the role you play.
I am the Director of Business Services for the Algoma School District including all accounting, human resources, buildings and grounds, and safety for the district. I work with a great team which makes all of this possible. The Algoma School District is located in Algoma, Wisconsin, a close-knit, rural community that sits on the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan in Northeast Wisconsin.
Our district consists of the Algoma Elementary School (Early Childhood through grade 6), the Algoma Middle School (grades 7 – 8), the Algoma High School (grades 9 -12) and the new Algoma Venture Academy.
How long have you been involved as a member of the Chamber’s BOD and why do you wish to serve in this way?
I have served on the Algoma Chamber Board for four and a half years as the treasurer. Serving on the board has been a great way for the school district to learn about area businesses and for the area businesses to learn about the district. Everyone works to help promote and make Algoma a destination for visiting or for living, and the school district along with local businesses is a large component of this.
What else would you like everyone to know? A hobby, your family, favorite things to do and see in Algoma etc?
Algoma has always been home to me, and outside of work I volunteer with the Algoma Fire and Rescue Department. Living and raising a family in the small community of Algoma is wonderful with plenty of activities including fishing, hiking the Ahnapee Trail, and many other local attractions.
