How would you like to be an Algoma Ambassador!?

In Algoma Visitor Center, Special Events, Travel

Algoma is excited to welcome visitors from near and far and by land and sea anytime but there is something special happening beginning in June 2023.

Algoma is a stop on the Viking Cruise Ship Great Lakes Expedition that travels back and forth from Toronto, Canada to Duluth, MN. The ships will moor out in Lake Michigan right off the Algoma shore and guests from the ships will be tendered to shore and disembark at the Algoma Marina.  Some will head off to pre-planned area excursions and others may want to experience all that Algoma has to offer.  Even more visitors are expected to come to town to watch the ships come in!

Here is where our Algoma Ambassadors come in.

The Algoma Area Chamber is sending out a call for volunteers to help staff a pop-up welcome and information stand near the Algoma marina where we will help answer questions, lead people to our Algoma businesses and attractions, and hand out area literature.

Shifts will be 2.5 -3 hours between 6:30 AM and 6:30 PM depending on the date. You will have the opportunity to choose your day and time slot after you fill out the interest form.

Training and an Algoma Ambassador shirt will be provided.

2023 Cruise ship days are as follows:
June 16, 29
July 14, 17
August 10, 23
September 4, 17

If this sounds like something you would like to do, please complete the Algoma Ambassador interest form.  In order to be guaranteed a shirt by the first Cruise ship day of June 16, we need the form completed no later than May 18, 2023.

Once you fill out the interest form, you will be redirected to a form to select the day(s) and time(s) you are available.
