  • Take the 2024 Ice Age Trail Alliance Mammoth Hike Challenge! Hike, walk, run, backpack, or saunter 44 miles on the Ice Age National Scenic Trail and visit 3 Ice Age Trail Communities (Algoma, WI is one of them!) during October 2024. You’ll earn the 2024 Mammoth Hike Challenge patch and a certificate marking your accomplishment.

    You have the entire month of October to do it!

    The Challenge is FREE and great for all ages and abilities. Registration is FREE, so find out more and register here to get started on a wonderful adventure!

    Along the way, you can find some Trail Magic!  Algoma has several official Trail Magic stops:

    • Ahnapee Brewery – Algoma Taproom Only, 202 Clark St. Mention the Mammoth Hike Challenge for $1 off one pint of beer.
    • Yardstick Books 317 Steele St. is offering a 15% discount on everything to all who mention the Mammoth Hike Challenge.
    • Clay on Steele 221 Steele St. Hikers who mention the Mammoth Hike Challenge will get a 20% discount on all pottery in the studio.
