Flat Plexiglas Portrait Painting
May 17, 2019 or June 15, 2019, 9:00am-1:00pm
75$ per student (minimum 5 students to run workshop) Includes all materials
Age 12 and over
Students will explore flat acrylic portrait painting on Plexiglas in the manner of Jim Nutt , Barbara Rossi, Karl Wirsum who were a part of the Chicago Imagists. Artist examples will be given through a short lecture and slideshow, demonstrations, and hands on help from the instructor will also be given. We will go over Basic painting technique and color theory. Students will finish a 12” x 16” framed acrylic on Plexiglas painting during the workshop.
Students should bring a 7 ½ by 11 printout of the portrait they would like to paint (simple with good light is best). Could be a human or pet! This is a flat, graphic way of painting that is similar to printmaking- in that it should be thought of as painting in the reverse.
Prerequisites: Basic painting skills and color mixing would be helpful but not necessary.
Coffee & Tea will be provided. Please bring a bag lunch or you can order boxed lunches from Café Tlazo.
