  • Join Yardstick Books for a unique First Friday as six members of the Door County Published Authors Collective (DCPAC) are welcomed to the store. The authors will be at Yardstick to discuss their books (which will be available for sale), chat and sign copies.

DCPAC is a group of local authors who either live in Door County or have strong ties to the county. The collective organized in 2020 under the Write On – Door County banner. DCPAC is made up of local published authors of many genres and backgrounds.

The Collective formed around a couple of goals: Promote local awareness of local authors and their work and to network and share their knowledge and experiences as independent writers.

DAN POWERS is the author of the novel How Long a Shadow. The story features a Door County protagonist who is seeking to learn about his father only to find himself struggling with the shadowy influences of his grandfather. The story explores fatherhood and the question: Is Genealogy Destiny?

MARGGIE MOERTL is the author of Sally – A Memoir, the story of Marggie’s mother’s journey through aging and finally her death in hospice care. This provided the story that explains her love for those who are dying and her life as a Life Doula. Life As A Prayer, is the story Marggie’s spiritual transformation during her many years as a hospice nurse.

JUDY ANN RITTER wrote an inspiring memoir of her sister-in-law, Esther Maria Ritter, who lived with ALS for 20 years after her diagnosis. Before her death in 2005, Esther asked Judy to write her story, using all her diaries, journals, letters, and tapes she made during the 20 years she lived with ALS. The book, Following My Path Striving for Justice and Social Change is the result of Judy’s promise.

SENSENBRENNER is the author of Cracked Sidewalks, a New Orleans Mystery, Dogging It in New Orleans, The Love of Hunting, (non-fiction about a family’s passion for the great outdoors), The Love of Hunting Log (A Sightings and Stories Journal).
