Robert Ray Gallery presents “The Water Dance Project: A Raft of Drawings, Watercolors, and Paintings En Plein Aire.”
This exhibition features drawings, watercolors, and Plein Aire paintings of Wisconsin waterways by artists Bonnita Budysz and Robert Theaker.
The Water Dance Project is a multi-year collaborative artists’ odyssey of rediscovery of the waterways and watersheds of northeast Wisconsin. On this odyssey the married couple plan to travel a 500 mile portion of the historic Wisconsin waterways by canoe stopping along the way to camp and paint on site.
Unique to this pilgrimage is the artists’ collaboration with authors, poets, musicians, and draftsmen. Together with the project team they have selected sites of historical significance which have shaped Wisconsin’s water story. Areas that have inspired the paintings include Algoma, Kewaunee, Door County, Two Rivers, Mishicot, Manitowoc County. and Kohler-Andrea Park in Sheboygan County. Selected works have been paired with poetry created for the project by Wisconsin poet Jean Biegun.
A percentage of the exhibition sales will support organizations involved in water conservation.
There will be an opening reception on Saturday September 19, 2020, from 1 to 4 pm.
