  • On the first Friday of each month, Algoma’s art galleries, studios, as well as other stores open their doors for an evening of art exhibition opening receptions where you can often meet the artists, sales, refreshments, great conversation, and hands-on activities.

    Enjoy art of all mediums, start or add to an art collection, enjoy refreshments and friendly conversation.  Have a great time as you stroll the streets of downtown Algoma, WI.

    Hours may vary. Check the specific times below. {Not all businesses are open for every First Friday.}.

    Scheduled for July 5, 2024

    • 3 – 5 PM Glen Innish Farm E5427 2nd Road, Kewaunee, WI
      Enjoy walking around the Lavender Field with no reservations. There will be samples of the Farm’s Lavender beverages – including Lavender Mimosas (must be 21 years old) and some Lavender sweet treats. Enjoy walking around the lavender field and the mile trail through the bird habitat and creek. You can also do a Lavender Wine Glass painting class for just $10/glass (limit two glasses per guest).
    • 5 – 8 PM The Pottery Co-op 610 4th St.
      Join The Pottery Co-op’s free community project and help create a Totem sculpture.
      The Pottery Co-op makes the form, you add clay to create a  one-of-a-kind piece to put on the Totem

      Working on the totem will be happening the first Friday of each month April thru September 2024 from  5 to 8 pm. The Pottery Co-op will create the form and pole base. Community members create pieces and attach them to the form by slipping and scoring.

      When each piece is finished The Pottery Co-op will bisque fire it. When all pieces are glazed and fired the totem will be on display in our courtyard with a Community Totem sign displayed on it.

      As part of First Friday Art in Algoma Robert Ray Gallery presents the opening reception for The Paintings of Cynthia Tumpach.  The reception is on July 5, 2025, from 5 to 8 pm. The exhibition will run until July 28, 2024.
    • 5 – 8 PM Ladybug Glass Studio & Gallery 219 Steele St.
      Ladybug Glass Studio & Gallery is honored to feature the wildlife and landscape photography of Michael Lewy (www.photoearth.com.au) in July 2024.Michael is an Australian citizen and was a passenger on the last Viking Polaris cruise of 2023 to visit Algoma on the way to South America and Antarctica. After showing the gallery some of his work, they kept in touch through the winter and decided to show his work in the gallery.

      The July show will consist of some of his photos from Antarctica and some of his African and Australian wildlife. While Mike will not be in Algoma for the opening reception (he is preparing for a photo excursion to the Arctic in search of polar bears), stop in to enjoy his work and maybe take home a new photo or two.

      Refreshments, good conversation, and interesting art are all promised for the evening. Mike’s work will be featured in the gallery for all of July 2024. Ladybug Glass Studio & Gallery’s standard hours are Wednesday – Saturday 10 AM – 5 PM.
