 MARINA MANAGER Recruitment Announcement 

Position 

The City of Algoma, population 3,113 (2019 population estimate), in Kewaunee County, is accepting applications for the position of Marina Manager. This is a part-time, limited term employment opportunity. The employment period will be from April 1, 2020 to November 1, 2020. 

Location 

Algoma is situated in northeast Wisconsin, at the base of the famed Door Peninsula, along the shoreline of Lake Michigan at the mouth of the Ahnapee River. It is located 30 miles east of Green Bay and 5 miles south of the Door/Kewaunee County line. The city has a total area of 2.51 square miles. 

Duties 

The Marina Manager position is responsible for supervising all marina staff, preparing and administrating work schedules; managing facilities; supply procurement; scheduling and coordinating spring and fall commissioning and decommissioning. Duties also include welcoming boaters, fisherman, and charter customers; fueling boats; cleaning restrooms and fish cleaning stations; coordinating slip reservations; and sales of goods and services. 

Qualifications 

Very successful candidates will have significant prior marina management experiences, and at least three years of increasing levels of supervisory experience. 

Special Notes 

The ability to have a flexible work schedule is very important. Hours of work vary between 4:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and will include weekdays, weekends and holidays. The employee is paid only for actual hours worked at approximately 30 hours per week. Starting pay is $15.36 per hour. This position does not provide any employee benefits. 

Reporting 

The City operates under a Council/Mayor/Administrator model of government. The Marina Manager reports directly to the Public Works Director, and works with the Marina Committee.
