2019 Volunteer Tour: Bruemmer Park Zoo
On Wednesday, May 15, 2019, a group of Algoma Visitor Center (VC) volunteers and some guests boarded a bus and took a tour of some of our Chamber member businesses and attractions. This is the second year for the tour, which helps the VC volunteers become more familiar with everything our members and the area have to offer as we get ready for the summer tourism season here on the lakeshore.
Our first stop of the day was the Bruemmer Park Zoo. Kewaunee County Promotions & Recreation Director Dave Myers joined us on the bus and gave an overview of the park including the animals that live there and some short-term plans for additions and improvements being made. These include a new pheasant pen as well as a nature and education center.
The Zoological Society of Kewaunee County, Inc. (ZSKC) provides support for Bruemmer Park Zoo, including educational opportunities to all zoo visitors with a focus on an understanding of and respect for all living things. ZSKC puts on events such as Zoobilee and Zoupart to help provide financial support to the programs and improvements of the zoo.
