Algoma UMC Hosts Sweater Makers
Do you like to knit? Do you want to learn? Then come and join the Algoma Sweater Makers!
Since March 2001, they have been knitting and crocheting sweaters for Knit for Kids, a nationwide program that unites thousands of volunteer knitters to fight poverty through knitting.
On March 23, 2018, the Algoma Sweater Makers sent 98 children’s sweaters to Knit for Kids which brings the total sweaters made and sent to date, to 7,034!
Those sweaters have brightened and warmed the lives of children all over the world: Albania, Armenia, Bosnia, New York, Burundi, Central African Republic, Chicago, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Lesotho, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mongolia, Nicaragua, the Pacific Northwest, Peru, Rwanda, Senegal, Somalia, Swaziland, and Zambia.
The next meeting of the Sweater Makers is Thursday, April 26, 2018, at 1:15 p.m. at the Algoma United Methodist Church. Knitters of all abilities and those wanting to learn are welcome.
